This device does work using the gspca kernel module on gentoo. I am able to get up to 40 fps on the camera, though the color is not the greatest. If there is too much light everything is white and cloudy but you can still see, if its too dark you can barely see anything. When the lighting is just right the camera performs fine. I do not recommend it for monitoring very sunny areas.
