Been playing about with the motion sensor side of ZM for a coupe of days.. experimented with every setting there is and still cannot get it right.
The program picks up every change in shadows / light and grabs the stills.. its great, yet a human can walk and stand inside one of the areas and it dont record.
Today I pulled my car off the drive, it recorded but NOT because the car moved, it triggered on the colour change of the ground under it!
Throughout the night, I get loads of captures of headlights crossing my drive yet people walking up to my door dont get recorded.
Any guides on this, I have read through the downloaded manual several times now...

Motion Detection -- Any Tweaks or Advice?
Nope, still cannot get my head round this.
This image > http://uktrash.org/motion.jpg shows the trigger part was small when the whole body was moving for some time.
http://uktrash.org/car.jpg shows that ZM triggered on a small area of the ground and NOT the car which is huge?
So, is it me? have I set something up wrong, am I looking at this wrong? I am lost

The reason why he captures after the movements, will be clear when you read "Reference Image Blend %ge" in the docs (http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.ph ... onitor_Tab).
In the zone settings, you can play with the min/max pixel threshold and the min/max for the diff detection area's. Read the docs and all will be clear. There are no general settings that just works for all camera's because each camera has a different distance to the target and has a different lens and more variables. I'm still tweaking my zone settings and it's a hard job because we have 7 cams with all different distance-to- target's. You should also make different zone settings at night.
Hope this issue will get better in future versions...

maarten,
Thanks for the help... indeed I have been playing with the settings and do have an acceptable setup at this time, as for different settings for day / night, that will be worth me reading into..
I am tempted to relax the sensitivity during daytime and make some different zones for night that are very sensitive as that is the time most trouble occurs, thanks for the reply.

OK, I'm clueless and apologize.
I new to this and this morning around 8:00AM, I set my indoor camera to 'mocord'. I turned off the ceiling fan before I left.
By 10:00AM had 30 or so 'events'. Either it was change in lighting or the AC unit blowing the leaves on my ficas tree.
I have 2 cameras but haven't set up any zones. How do I reduce the 'sensitivity'? Do I increase or decrease the value of "Reference Image Blend %ge" or do I need to set up a zone?
TIA
