Image not pulled by ZM but works w/browser...

Hi...
I am running ZM 1.23.3 w/2 wireless AirLink cams (250 & 500).
Sometimes the 250 shows up red on the main ZM web page. When I try to pull a live image (click on it's name) the ZM web page w/the image and events shows no image (all white w/broken image icon). However, when I pull the image using a web browser it works fine. The only way I have found to correct the problem is to stop and start ZM.
Any ideas as to how to fix this problem would be appreciated. And please let me know if I left out any important information.
...thanks

I suspect my 250W goes red indicating ZM has stopped using it. I have all my cameras running wirelessly. It's possible that ZM automatically stops a camera it can not contact. But does not re-start using a camera later when it becomes available. Is there a place where this behaviour can be changed?
...thanks

Ok, what's going on w/my set up is beyond easy logic. I have been loosing my 250W airlink camera (it goes red on the ZM console page) and is not accessible through ZM. But is through a web browser. I assumed that it went missing and ZM stopped using it. The only way to get it working again is to restart ZM. (I think I see a new feature requests here.)
But now, after a whole night where I unplugged one of my 500W airlink cameras, I see ZM has not turned that camera's IP red as it has been doing w/my 250W camera.
So, what exactly does it mean when the IP of the camera on the ZM console turns red?
(Judging from the number of views it appears others are having similar problems.)

Red means there is an error and that camera is not capturing. You might want to look at some logs and see why it stopped.

I checked in the /var/log/messages file and the /tmp/zmwatch.log file but didn't find anything that looked suspicious to me. I am using 3 wireless networked cameras. Right now I have 1 camera active, another showing up red (but readable using a web browser) and 1 camera powered down (which shows up red as expected).
I am going to restart zone minder using the console web page. Now all the cameras are green including the camera which is powered down. I'll let this run for the day and post any findings.
(I am using a Linux / Debian system.)
...thanks.

Er, well - with the switch to ATSC in NA I've been investing all my time getting the bugs out of my mythtv setup...
I still have not resolved the dropped camera issue. However the 250 and 500 Airlink SkyIPCams did work w/Zone Minder last I tried them. (BTW, the 250Ws are really old - where did you find a stash of them?) I still need to take the time to check the logs (...as well as find them - perhaps even turn logging on if necessary) after a drop to see exactly why they get dropped. For all I know, it might be a IP address leasing issue. All my cameras were operating wirelessly at the time.
The only camera I have had a great deal of trouble with was a "can shaped" D-Link. It continuously came apart (inside) because it was made from 3 sub assemblies which were plugged into each other. Once, after reassembling it, I had misaligned a connector and "bricked" the camera.
Good luck w/what you are doing. ZM is an interesting application. Perhaps (if I find time) I'll try to bring up my system and check the logs in an attempt to make it dependable / useful as well as interesting.

To get anything useful you will have to turn up debug, you can limit the output to the zmc process and you will find the debug logs placed with the rest of the ZM logs.
You should also consider setting a static IP on your cams to eliminate any DHCP problems.
