I'm based in the UK and want to set up a 2 or 3 camera zoneminder installation. This is a home setup so I'm not looking for top of the range equipment.
I would like the camera's to work but during the day and at night.
Does anyone have any suggestions for camera's and capture cards and where I can buy them?
UK Based Looking for Hardware recommendations
On a budget would say to surely look into a capture card and for day and night performance a black/white CCTV cams with a lux rating of .005 or lower.
There are some cams available with a sony b/w ccd that have a lux rating as low as .0003 that perform very well, almost starlight conditions but not quiet so but certainly well priced compared to a dual mode color cam.
Although I have no idea about any UK suppliers but I know that one of our members ships there and can be found here:

Genie cameras are nice like this model:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Genie-Vandal-Resi ... 240%3A1318
However the above model is not IR sensitive so idealy require some street lighting and/or a dusk to dawn light.
Genie also do a true day night (IR sensitive):

That model has ir LEDs in and I have been dissapointed that the LEDs cause the lens to reflect in the dome a bit when its totaly dark, but its still usable.
Genie, Vantage,Ganz and Pecan are all popular mid price cameras.
If any cameras are to be sited somewhere totaly dark at night and if you dont want to spring for a true day night camera then probably best with monochrome like:

plus a cheap generic illuminator off ebay for about £12
Just get either a generic bt878 four or eight chip card off ebay and fit heat sinks to the chips. Dont get a one chip card as they are horrible.
