Entering quotes into Forum, and pressing the Submit button, the quotes were automatically concatenated and shortened, deleting text in between them. Is there a syntax reason for this?

The quotes included "mysql>" and "mysql -u root -p < db/zm_create.sql"

And also the same with using the Quote button. It concatenated to <db> and deleted the text in between.

This is generally to prevent bad things happening. You should be able to check the 'Disable HTML' box below the post text box to avoid this behaviour.
