New Security system....what hardware?

Hello everybody. I'm Italian, so excuse me for my English 
I want to create a security system using an old notebook that is an AMD 1800+ whit 3 USB 1.1.
I'd like to have 4 cams, but I don't know what cam i should buy. I saw on e-bay some cam that seems to be perfect for me, but I will need 4 channel usb grabber becouse these cams are not usb. Do you know a 4 channel dvr grabber working whit kubuntu and zoneminder?
I'd like to know another thing: if he electric supply is tuned off, and the notebook begins to use its battery is there the possibility to send an allarm (i.e. by sms)??+
