Getting some errors on ZM

Post by softland »

Hi folks...
I'm not that good in English....
I'm getting some errors on zm like "kernel time sync error 1" and several "WAR [Buffer overrun at index N, slow down capture, speed up analysis or increasse ring buffer size]
I've tried several kind of "help" here in the forum, but no one had no effect...
I would really like some help here...
Thanks...

You can try increasing the ring buffer and set Image Buffer size to 65 but I think some thing else is amiss. If you run dmesg are there any errors towards the end?

No, dmesg returns no errors

Just for help, my CPU configurations are:
AMD Athlon 1.2 Ghz
40 GB Hard Drive
512 MB RAM
GeForce4 MX 4000
I have 7 cameras on it, soon it will be 8

It's an old machine...
Do you think that if I increase to 65 the buffer size will solve it?

Thanks for the help

Have you tried increasing the buffer or decreasing the capture speeds yet?

I forgot to tell... the overruns are not the only problem... sometimes i have to restart the machine because the overrun problem... and when reboot it displays the error... "fsck died... on /dev/hdaN"... then I run "fsck /dev/hdaN" it's ok for a while... but sometimes when I reboot the linux this message appears... any ideas about this?

I'm having this exact problem, but I have 32 cameras running. I have increased the amount of shared memory (from 128 to 457MB), I increased the image buffer on all feeds to 60 from 40 and although I don't get as many, I still get some buffer overrun messages:

Code: Select all

Feb 18 04:50:05 camera zmc_dvideo1[9965]: WAR [Buffer overrun at index 3, slow down capture, speed up analysis or increase ring buffer size]
Feb 18 04:50:05 camera zmc_dvideo4[9949]: WAR [Buffer overrun at index 3, slow down capture, speed up analysis or increase ring buffer size]
Feb 18 05:04:55 camera zmc_dvideo9[9853]: WAR [Buffer overrun at index 44, slow down capture, speed up analysis or increase ring buffer size]
Feb 18 05:04:56 camera zmc_dvideo2[9957]: WAR [Buffer overrun at index 35, slow down capture, speed up analysis or increase ring buffer size]
Feb 18 05:04:56 camera zmc_dvideo7[9917]: WAR [Buffer overrun at index 1, slow down capture, speed up analysis or increase ring buffer size]

Feb 18 05:04:57 camera zmc_dvideo8[9861]: WAR [Buffer overrun at index 0, slow down capture, speed up analysis or increase ring buffer size]
Feb 18 05:05:11 camera zmc_dvideo6[9933]: WAR [Buffer overrun at index 0, slow down capture, speed up analysis or increase ring buffer size]
Feb 18 05:05:28 camera zmc_dvideo12[9829]: WAR [Buffer overrun at index 0, slow down capture, speed up analysis or increase ring buffer size]
Feb 18 05:05:29 camera zma_m65[9833]: WAR [Approaching buffer overrun, consider slowing capture, simplifying analysis or increasing ring buffer size]
Feb 18 05:05:30 camera zmc_dvideo12[9829]: WAR [Buffer overrun at index 3, slow down capture, speed up analysis or increase ring buffer size]
Feb 18 05:05:54 camera zmc_dvideo11[9837]: WAR [Buffer overrun at index 39, slow down capture, speed up analysis or increase ring buffer size]
Feb 18 05:05:56 camera zmc_dvideo11[9837]: WAR [Buffer overrun at index 44, slow down capture, speed up analysis or increase ring buffer size]
What other change can I make to give Zoneminder the amount of shared memory it needs for the 32 cameras?
