Any issues live upgrading from 1.23.x to 1.24.x?

Post by Blazer »

Thusfar the installs of 1.24.x I have done were fresh installs.

I now want to try to upgrade a 1.23.3 system to 1.24.1. I of course intend to backup the database before I try, but is there any specific procedure to follow for doing an in-place upgrade?

I assume there is some sort of DB upgrades that need to be done for 1.24, will these be done automatically, or is there some manual process (zmupdate.pl?) that I need to run.

I don't want to chance losing my currently saved and archived events.

Also, some of my fresh installs of 1.24.x simply do not work for some reason (gets jpeg errors), so Im thinking I should know in advance how to roll back to 1.23.3 if this upgrade does not work. Theoretically I should be able to just uninstall 1.24.x, drop and recreate an empty zm database, then install 1.23.x and then restore the saved database. However I am not confident that will work, as wont the zmaudit daemon start deleting events from the filesystem when it sees they are not in the database? I guess I can avoid this by not starting ZM until everything is done. Any thoughts?

As far as I'm aware there are no known issues with updating.
Still the same procedure as before and in the documentation.
And yes, don't start ZM till you have checked that everything else works from the console (thumbnails, playing past events, etc.).
