I am new to Linux and Ubuntu, I thought it would be sort of a new hobbie to get into learning this free source language. Anyhow, I went through the guide on "How to install zm 1.24.1 from source on Ubuntu 8.10 - SOLVED". This was a great guide and I installed on a fresh install of ubuntu 8.10. I got all the way to the end and made the file executable and enabled it on boot with "sysvconfig". I rebooted the system but don't see the program anywhere. I looked at the forums/documentation and cant seem to find out what I need to do to run the program. Sorry, I guess I am to used to windows style installation. I tried typing in "zm" in a terminal and it said command not found.
Where do I find the program? Is it somewhere on the ubuntu desktop or do I need to type a command in in a terminal. I also opened up mozilla and didn't see anything there either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

allanE, check out the Wiki's documentation herehttp://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.php/Documentation, that'll get you started with setting up and viewing your camera.
The Wiki in general is a great source for information. There's a lot of distro specific HowTos that will save you major headaches.
Also, there's a newbie's guide on the Documentation page that you can download. http://www.zoneminder.com/documentation.html
