Hi there:

Full disclosure - I am a newbie at this so my inquiry will most likely support that theory.

I just downloaded the VMWare image for Ubuntu Linux and Zoneminder 1.24. I am running this via VMWare Server 2.0 on a Nitix box (www.nitix.com). I have a VMWare remote console running and I have logged onto it, but I am not getting an IP address for this console - so I have no idea how to access any cameras. I am clearly missing some step but not sure what.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am having the very same problem with mine.

I am also not very happy about the way the gui sometimes works on the config page on all the other versions I have tried. The live CD version is suppose to be drop in and go. Hell it cant even tell me where the cams are at. I had to try and download other software buggy software for that.

I'm having this exact problem. I'm a Linux newbie, but I can login and when running ifconfig I only get a loopback interface, not eth0 or eth1 or any network card. In vmware I have the card, even added an extra one, no difference. Is the support for vmware server 2 network card not compiled in the core, or what?

I had this problem and after some research I was able to resolve it quite simply. You need to edit the file /etc/network/interfaces and change the two occurrences of "eth1" to "eth2".

After this try rebooting and you should be all set. I believe my VM is configured for bridged networking. I don't know a lot about how these network interface mappings work behind the scenes so if this doesn't work then I'm not sure how much help I can provide. Good luck!
