If you install from apt-get, you´ll get a little outdated version (because those packages must be assembled by someone first);
i really suggest you intall using one of the wiki tutorials (ubuntu applies ok to debian), so you´ll get the subversion updated zoneminder that fix a lot of issues that you were going to face if you used apt-get;
i suggest that you erase the zm directory under /var/www and /usr/src, with big care, and then follow a tutorial below;
http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.php/Contents
http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.php/Debian
http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.ph ... ozola-0.7)
live cd that may be installed to hd if you like:

if you are experienced, you may try anyone, if not, i recommend the zmlarch live cd !
good luck !
