composite video over utp

Post by paoletto »

Hi! I have a camera which outputs composite video, which takes 9-12v power supply and is controllable over RS232.

now i was wondering: could i wire all these 3 connection into an utp cable? like 2 wires for the video, 2 wires for the power supply, and 2 wires for the RS232?

is possible to send composite video over 2 wires into an UTP cat5 cable?

Video signal, definitely. http://store.bluecherry.net/Passive_vid ... vb201c.htm works for me, claims 1000 feet, haven't tested it quite that far.

Power and rs-232 are going to be a matter of distance, and I don't know the distance of either.

RS485 / RS232 should be able to travel over 1000 feet on twisted pair

12VDC is where you are going to have issues. You may be able to getout ~100 feet or so but very quickly drop off after that.
