I just stumbled over this awesome software/community, thanks!
Had been looking for some nice linux software to accomplish what my failed DCS-900+crap software wasnt able to.

So my question is, alltho i think its allmost un nessesary, will a Axis 206 work good with Zome Minder?

I allready ditched my DCS900, i just dont want to use to much time getting that piece of **** to work. As a couple of threads suggest, d-link is just not great.

How well does the motion detect system work with this camera? Just wondering if i should aim at 24/7. We are open 24/7 in the weekends anyway (cybercafe, reception survelliance).

Axis 206's work fine with ZoneMinder. Motion detection depends on your setting. If you're open 24 hours, depending on how much drive space you want to commit, it may not be worth bothering with motion detection. Otherwise, it's tweakable in ZM, and possibly even on the camera, don't know about 206's, but 207's have on-camera detection.

Thanks, i will try with 24/7 and semilow resolution, so i dont fill up my disk to fast. I only have 200GB allocated, and cannot give it much more (on a vmware host).

I hope this will finally work out for us, I have tryed to make the d-link software work for ages without luck now.

You could also decrease the picture quality, instead of the resolution. You'd have to test it to see which produces an acceptably small enough file, but I wouldn't want to go lower than 640x480 for any application, unless I'm looking for whether or not there's a truck in a particular spot.

How many cameras * fps * jpegsize = amount of drive space used per second. Figure that out, and figure out how long you want the video to last, as in how far back in time do you want to be able to go.
