Grey Video - Lines ? ? ?

Post by apel444 »

I'm having a problem with my new set-up. Its running 1.24 with a pico2000 card.

I'm testing it with my digital camera output before i buy a camera.
The problem is I cannot get it to work in PAL. If i set my camera to NTSC output and the system to NTSC M (VFL2) it works. But on pal i get this regardless of what PAL mode i try.

It kind of looks like the tracking out on a VCR!
Being from the UK I'd like to have the system running on PAL not NTSC, just for compatibility.
Any Advice?

The only thing that comes to mind is are you restarting the ZM service after you make the changes?

Are all your defined monitors in ZM configured exactly the same for each device?
ie: All settings for all monitors on /dev/video0 (standard, palette, size, ect) exactly the same.

Thanks for the ideas. How do i restart the ZM service? I've tried "/etc/init.d/zoneminder stop" & it says the service is already stopped even though it is running when i use the zm console!

I installed the system based on this guide entirely. http://www.howtoforge.com/video_surveil ... der_ubuntu

I only have one monitor at present so i guess the second point doesn't apply?

Cheers.

Give a shot at restarting it through the web console. I feel that that howto is slightly flawed IMO. You can also do so using zmpkg.pl directly:

Code: Select all

# zmpkg.pl stop
zmpkg.pl start

Hi apel444

How did you end up going?

I have been experiencing the same thing since going to 1.24 ages ago. Get the same with 1.24.2
I have tried removing all other monitors, leaving just a single PAL camera configured. I get the same lines as you, NTSC cameras work fine.

Everything worked fine under 1.23

When I went to 1.24 I also chose to go with Fedora Core 10. What OS are you running?

Cheers
