Some questions about managing ZM using home automation

Post by mike548141 »

Hi,

A few questions if I can ask the experts here,

1) Most important for me, is there a way to use ZM as the camera management system and tie it into a building management system (BMS AKA home automation). I'm thinking a SOAP, XML or SNMP interface on ZM that the BMS can talk to?
An example scenario would be the security system ties into the BMS, if the security system picks up movement using a PIR we want the BMS to tell ZM to start recording all camera feeds.

2) Does anyone know if the motion detection aspect of ZM has been improved post this post

3) I've also posted a question about hardware support for Cisco cameras here

But I would be interested in hearing from you all about other high quality surveillance IP cameras you would recommend

Many thanks for your time,

Recently I posted a patch that added an XML interface to anything that previously was AJAX only. I also added a few stub api functions to provide some data not exported otherwise. You may want to take a look at that about getting started, certainly if there is additional functionality needed there is room to expand. As for the BMS telling ZM to start recording that is already implemented with manual alarms.

As for the cameras I will reply in that thread shortly.
