I've got the same question. I'm looking to start playing with zoneminder and security cameras. What is a good, cheap and compatible IP camera to just play around with with zoneminder?

thanks.

The Y-Cam works okay, is well featured and is reasonably priced.

Axis remain the best, but fail your 'cheap' criteria.

Yeah, I need proof of concept first. Maybe I'll try out an Airlink AIC250 - I think I can find one of those cheap. The Y-cam still seems a little pricey to just play around with. Or maybe I'll just get a cheap webcam to start with.

This is really something to play around with, rather than a need for surveillence. If I like playing with it, I will probably build a more robust surveillence system around the ouse.

Depending on the level of playing around you'd like to do, you might be able to make do with various online demos of ip cameras available on the net.

Thanks - didn't think of that. I actually just bought a cheap Labtec Webcam pro and an IP Kamera 9000A off of ebay. After I get them, I'm going to try and set them up normally and play with them then try using zoneminder with them.

I'm hoping my X2 4200 won't be to stressed by using zoneminder with these cameras. It's also my main mail server and web server, and my primary mythbackend.
