I've got version 1.24.2 installed on centos 5.3
most everything work fine but the live view of my camera
it's connected by bt878 card on /dev/video0 port 0

mocord works and i can see my stills but try to view the video and i get error in my http errorlog
get the same thing if i click the camera and try to view it live

This is the only errors i seem to find i've looked in me messages.log ,zmdc.log, zmwatch.log and many otheres and this seems to be my only error

I've been watching in the tmp dir and it's creating a file /tmp/zms-217768w.sock and looking for /tmp/zms-217768s.sock

I can't seem to figure out whats going on
I've even rebuild it from scratch by the centos wiki page but used the current version of zoneminder
I've also tried it just as they said and used the older version and i still i'm getting the same error

Any progress with this? I'm stuck with a similar problem.
Compiled v1.24.2 on ubuntu 9.04 x64. ZM is functional. Modect working. Events can be viewed as frames but not as video. All pages that should have video display the page fine, just no video (not even black box).

Looking at the live feed page, firebug console keeps logging the following errors every second or two (IK-WB15A network camera):

{"result":"Error","message":"socket_sendto( \/tmp\/zms-361517s.sock ) failed: No such file or directory"}

Each time this request is made, the following file appears for a short period:

srwxr-xr-x 1 www-data www-data 0 2009-09-02 00:19 /tmp/zms-361517w.sock

So it does seem to be trying to open the wrong file.

I have exactly the same problem (looking for /tmp/zms-273155s.sock but only /tmp/zms-273155w.sock appears from time to time).

ZM Version: 1.24.2
OS: Debian Lenny
HTTP SREVER: lighttpd

some news? i have the same problem

Ubuntu 8.04
Zoneminder 1.24.2
Apache2

When the error appears, i'm unable to connet to zm index.php page (server do not respond) and i have to restart apache2 to make it work again (and i dont restart zoneminder)

But when zm page is stuck, if i try to acess to webmin on the same server, apache works without problem.

I cant figured out!

try messing with the security settings - permissions, group membership etc

i've put the zm username in (almost) all groups - that helped

I was having exact same problem, and after days of google and scouring this forum, I found no answer.

Eventually I stumbled on the answer. When I would try to view the picture from the camera, I had a red X instead of the picture. Events were being recorded, and I could see them in my events directory. I could see no video though. Apache logs showed the same errors you mentioned.

My clue was from right-clicking the missing picture and looking at properties. If I cut and paste the URL of the picture in a new browser window, I got a file not found error. Apache logs confirmed with this error:

File does not exist: /var/www/cgi-bin/zm

Hmmm, it could not find the nph-zms script in cgi-bin/zm. I checked apache config files, and scriptalias was in place:

ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/zm/ "/usr/libexec/zoneminder/cgi-bin/"

To fix the problem, I copied the nph-zms (and zms) cgi scripts to cgi-bin, as in:

# mkdir /var/www/cgi-bin/zm
# cp -a /usr/libexec/zoneminder/cgi-bin/* /var/www/cgi-bin/zm

Now everything works perfectly. Not sure why the scriptalias directive in the apache config file isn't being picked up correctly, but I was tired of this not working and the above fix did the trick.

Had the same problem but found putting the two files (nph-zms and zms) into /var/www/cgi-bin and chown apache:apache. finally gave me a picture.

I am using Fedora 11 and v1.24.2

I have this same problem. I can ever see the still images that ZM has created but no streaming video. Same error too.

Changing permissions seems to have no affect.

All the above didn't bring success.
Ubuntu 9.10, Apache2, Zoneminder 1.24.1

After some experimenting figured out that changing port number on whitch Apache2 listens to (8082) afects loss of video stream and event stream. Stills are always there where they should be. Returning the port back to 80 streams are back. (Have to change the port because port 80 is forwarded in router to other local adress).

Creating video in Event page works in Mozilla but not in IE?

Any clues where to grab the bull?
