If I want to setup two locations of cameras that are physically too far apart to have a cable or IP or wireless connection to both from one central location, how would you suggest setting up a system?

Its for a neighborhood near me to monitor cars entering their 2 entrances. I suppose they could have two separate houses each setup a computer connected to the cameras and individually be used to monitor and record all cars - is there a way to tie them together?

depending on your needs just use the internets. You then just need them to be online and then you can remotely access them from where ever your server is.
