[Solved] Express6 does not stream video

Post by John Bowling »

I have 1.24 setup via the openSUSE 11.1 repository.
It works for video in - but -
With input from the Express6, I've tried their recommended methods:

http://<ip>/jpeg.cgi?x - where x is the camera input number 0 to 5
It gives me a solid black image frame in ZoneMinder

http://<ip>/nph-mjpeg.cgi?0
It gives me a solid white image frame in ZoneMinder

A working Panasonic LAN camera uses http://username:password@<ip>/nphMotionJpeg?Resolution.... and has a good image in zoneminder.

Looking at the Express6 direct with Firefox gives me correct images. The Express6 is setup to not require username/password for viewing images.

Support at StarDot told me that ZoneMinder has to send requests to get the next image with the /jpeg.cgi? form. The /nph-mjpeg.cgi? should stream.

ZoneMinder is not setup for mjpeg output , and it does work on input from the Panasonic camera with mjpeg input, so that can't be the issue here.

Is there an option that will cause ZoneMinder to request the next image?

Given the responces - has no-one ever used the Express 6?

Obviously not! And yet there are posts that suggest using it.
There has to have been some results with Stardot cameras.
Is the server so much different?

Can you view the images using the URL above with Firefox?

Firefox does show the video images

Post by John Bowling »

I can view images on all 6 inputs of the Express6 via the fixed IP of the Express6 using Firefox, yet I can not see them through ZoneMinder.

It could be a couple different issues. Try saving a image from Firefox and add a new monitor and change the Source Type to file and feed the image to Zoneminder to see if Zoneminder will process the file.

You might also look at the resolution of the single image and verify the resolution matches in Zoneminder

Express6 IP server is working

Post by John Bowling »

I had to adjust the resolution. It only works with /jpeg.cgi?x
/nph-mjpeg.cgi?x does not work, even though I'm using 1.24.2 with openSUSE 11.3 on a triple core AMD with 4G of ram.

Why would a camera that works at 340x280 going through a video input care need 352x280 when coming in as IP?

After making multiple changes to the setup source, the first one I added quit working (white screen only), regardless of changes. I had to delete it and redo it.

Is there anyway of resetting the internal numbers of the monitors to eliminate gaps for deleted ones?

Also, is there any way, other than the order of the setup, to adjust where each one appears on the browser display. Or does that need advanced planning on paper, knowing the size of each image prior to any setup?

Thanks, John
