Determine correct source path and channel

I have installed zoneminder on several systems but always have difficulty in determining the correct source path and channel combinations. I go through it trial and error.
Is there a way of determining the available combnations? This is on Linux. The latest system is an 8 camera card with /dev/video0-dev/video8 showing.
