Bug or Feature? -"Previous" button does not work a

Not sure if my expectation of how this button should work is off or if the button is actually broken. Try the following and tell me what you think....
Play a motion event from any camera. Now click the "+>" (a.k.a. Next) button, and as expected the next event is loaded and played automatically.
Now click the "<+" (a.k.a. Prev) button. What I would expect to happen is that zoneminder should load the previous event and play it from the beginning. Instead, zoneminder loads the very last frame of the previous event and consequently does not play the event. If I want to play the previous event from the beginning, I have to rewind it.... but the rewind button is not enabled because the event in not playing .....but I can't play the event because it is already at the end of the event... ahhh! ....to fix I must first manually back off the event by clicking the "<" (a.k.a. step back button) several times, then hit play, then hit the rewind button, then play the event from the beginning.
Is this really by design, or I am doing something inherently wrong?
