Unable to view MJPEG stream in ZM

Hi,

So, on a previous thread I was unable to get my USB webcam working with ZM at all (it worked fine with XAWTV, strangely.)

My latest greatest plan is to use motion, which I've had working for a few months now, to output an MJPEG stream, and simply pipe this into ZM.

So, I've got a stream, I can browse with Firefox to:

http://localhost:8081

And I get a great 640x420 picture of my front door. :P

I can also add the ?action=stream or ?action=snapshot and they both work perfectly.

So, my understanding is I should be able to configure a monitor in ZM, as:

Source Type: Remote
Remote Protocol: HTTP
Remote Method: Simple
Remote Host Name: localhost
Remote Host Port: 8081
Remote Host Path: /?action=stream

And then I set 640x480 and 1 fps

However, no matter how much I tinker with these settings I get nothing in the monitor view on ZM at all, no picture.

The messages log only shows:

Oct 27 12:36:09 jellycomp zmc_m14[4226]: INF [Starting Capture]
Oct 27 12:36:10 jellycomp zmdc[3719]: INF ['zma -m 14' stopping at 09/10/27 12:36:10]
Oct 27 12:36:10 jellycomp zma_m14[4141]: INF [Got signal 15 (Terminated), exiting]
Oct 27 12:36:10 jellycomp zmdc[3719]: INF ['zma -m 14' exited normally]

Any ideas what's going wrong here? So close to a working solution!!!

Cheers!
BDK

(Of course, I meant 640x480 above, 420 was just a typo...)

Wow, that RTFM was incredibly helpful...

What might be more helpful, for anyone else who hits the same problem, is that ZM seems to have an issue with resolutions higher than 320x240 for MJPEG streams. A colleague of mine mentioned today that he'd had the same problem - a cam streaming 640x480 was showing no picture at all in ZM, but when he reduced it to 320x240 in both the MJPEG stream and in ZM, problem solved.

Shame though, would have been nice to capture at a higher resolution, it's a 12megapixel camera!!!

Phil: Perhaps you could arrange a tutorial/test as to whether or not a user's been through and understands shmall/shmax before they can post a question? Should drop traffic significantly. :)
