Events missing

Post by hushpuppy »

This post will hopefully help someone.

After running continuously for over a year, my zm machine has finally started to give problems.

This is a Live CD i put together, thats still fine (the system had an uptime of months), it various hardware failures thats causing instability, hard disk failure, now out of memory errors.

Not wanting to invest in new hardware, i decided to use a mac i purchased from the local college in the summer, a G4 running os/x, I replaced this with Debian Lenny, and installed zm from a .deb , this caused me some headaches, but i peresevered, and eventually got zm running.

But I still couldnt see any streaming events, I could see **some** stills.

With debugging turned right up I eventually spotted this in zmaudit.log

"Filesystem event 1/8 does not exist in database", this was for every event (over 100).

All the events had been deleted !!!.

I spent a long time tracking this down, but couldnt spot anything.

The system time was way out ( Jan 1904) maybe a fault with a battery, as i did set it earlier, but a reboot set it back, in any caser i installed ntpdate, updated the date against a time server, and lo and behold, zm appears to be working.

Anyone offer an explanation ?
