Hello all,
I have just reinstalled ubuntu 9.10 and zoneminder 1.24.1 and im running into some problems. I have set everything up ok (as far as i know) but im getting some strange results. i have a dvr card with 4 cameras attached to it. i have set them all up with the correct rez and i think the correct format and pallet.
The problem i have is that each feed is sometime perfect, other times the picture cut in two/half of the screen black and other time they all show the same feed even tho the channels are different.
Does any one have any suggestions???
Thanks in advance.
My PV-143 shows the same image on all four feeds.

I have the same problem. I use a card from Bluecherry (PV-143). All four feeds show the same image most of the time. Sometimes the image flickers and show garbage, then it settles back to show the same image on all four monitors again.
If I disable all monitors and enable just one of them I get the correct image for that camera. If I enable more, they all show the same image.
I am on ZM 1.24.2 on Ubuntu 9.0.4.
I also have two IP cameras feeding ZM and they work fine.
Any ideas? This is my first ZM install, so any help is appreciated.

i did some more fiddling this morning. I still have the problem but after i make a change (to the pallete or something) it somewhat seems to be correct for like 30sec then goes back to the same problem when i next log on.
jhellevi FYI i had ubuntu 9.04 installed up until last weekend and i must have had an older version as I have noticed some new options and it all worked fine. So im hoping this is just a config error.

I managed to fix it. After some searching on this site I found this page
http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.php/Pico2000 which mentions the problems I experienced. This is not the same card as I have (I got mine from Bluecherry and it is supposed to be supported in ZM), but it uses the same chip.
When I changed CAPTURES_PER_FRAME to 5, it started working as expected. I only get 0.5 fps per channel from the card this way, but it is better than no picture at all.
Next up is to install my generic bttv card and see if I can get even more cameras hooked up.

I had the same problem.
I did the first solutions mentioned at the link by jhellevi. i.e Disable V4L_MULTI_BUFFER (found in options >> config)
I still had the problem, until i set a max fps for each cam. I set each to 5 fps, and now they all work at around 3.6 fps.
