Genius WebCam doesn't work

I recently became a zoneminder user, i installed it directly from the repository of ubuntu karmic, the thing is that i have a genius webcam that i can't put to work, it does appear in cheese and xawtv but not in zoneminder.
This is the error i get when i run:
rubinos@rubinos-laptop:~$ zmu -d /dev/video0 -q -v
Error, failed to get channel 0 attributes: Invalid argument
And this is what xawtv said:
rubinos@rubinos-laptop:~$ xawtv -hwscan
This is xawtv-3.95.dfsg.1, running on Linux/i686 (2.6.31-15-generic)

I really would appreciate some help.
