trouble with ZM 1.24

Hello,
I discover ubuntu and zoneminder about 6 months ago...
So i decided to install an old Ubuntu 8.04 desktop on a HP DC530USDT wich already have a cheap PICO card with 4 inputs installed, then i have installed ZM 1.22 via synaptic.
All was working fine. My only problem was i had to run sudo chmod 777 /dev/video0 after each reboot.
FInaly i decided to upgrade to ubuntu server 9.10 and ZM 1.24... I installed every thing as i done it with previous version. Strongley i already need to chmod video0....
But I don't find any configuration to see a good image from my camera. I get a signal, but only "snow"...
I have test several settings, I see that i can get something only with video for linux 1 not 2.
Sorry for my bad english...
