ZM 1.24.2 HTTPS w/apache on Debian Lenny results in no image

I've been using ZM 1.24.2 compiled from source on Debian Lenny. My camera is an Axis 212, using http remote access. When I access ZM using http, things appear to work fine -- I'm just looking at the stream of static jpegs, the simple case. I'm not using ZM's internal authentication. When I switch to accessing ZM using https, most things work (meaning I can navigate the dialogs) but the watch window doesn't display an image. Interestingly, it behaves differently when I access it with IE, Firefox and Chrome. None of them display an image, but they handle the dialogs differently (which could just be interaction with their pop-up blocking and security settings.) Has anyone seen this type of problem before? Is this more likely to be some kind of Apache misconfiguration? I'd seen some discussion of similar-sounding difficulties, but they seemed related to GNU TLS and ZM internal authentication, not SSL in apache. Thanks for any help.
