Hi all,
I have an installation of ZoneMinder on a server with an ADSL that has an upload bandwidth of 350-400 Kbps.
I should monitor and register 6 cameras.
Which is the best configuration in terms of fps and resolution according to you?
What are the considerations I should do to avoid a bandwidth consumption?
How should I reconsider these calculations if there are multiple contemporary connections.
Thank you very much.

Configuring 6 cameras with limited bandwidth
Um, you don't, really.
Typical ADSL upstream is sufficient for one camera, badly. For six you'd be watching one vga frame every 10s or so which probably wouldn't be that useful, certainly not for zm to work with.
I face this situation for three remote sites and my solution is to host everything locally on a zm box and use zm's web interface to view cameras and review events. You can use zm's cycle tool to view them one at a time in a loop, which works ok.

My zm box is local and on the same network of the six cameras.Flasheart wrote:Um, you don't, really.

I meant what are the tunes I should do so that I can access to the zm web interface, considering that the zm box is connected to Internet with a bandwidth of 400kbps (upload).
I don't know what "cycle tool" is? Is a zm' features?

I would recommend using the mpeg streaming in zoneminder for viewing remotely. However mpeg has its own issues like the dvr controls don't work you can also view the images a stills and go though each frame one at a time. Ether way it will work it will just be slow with that connection.
I think the cycle tool he is referring to is the built in camera cycle that switches between cameras so you can see them all.
