Hi all,

Thought I would report that I have the ACTi 3311p dome camera working with zoneminder 1.24.2 :-)

I was looking for a relatively cheap POE IP Dome camera and this one came up. A quick check on the zoneminder site said that all ACTi cameras now worked. I upgraded to 1.24.2 and went to work. Below are the settings I am using. More may work but these work for me :-)

On the camera web interface. You only need to adjust the video setting section:

Streaming method: RTP over UDP
RTSP Authen Enable: NOT ENABLED
B2 Frame Enable: NOT ENABLED
Audio in: Enabled (but you can choose either)
Input Sensitivity: Select whatever you want
Resolution: 352x288
Frame Rate Method: Constant
Frame rate: 25
Encoder type: MPEG4
Video Bitrate Mode: Variable Bit Rate
Video Quality: Middle
GOP Length: 0
RTSP Port: 7070
Video Control Port: 6001

Zoneminder Settings:
create a new monitor

General Tab
Name: Whatever you want
Source Type: Remote
Function: Modect
Enabled (true/ticked)
Linked Monitors
Maximum FPS: 25
Alarm Max FPS: 25
Reference Image Blend %ge: 7

Source Tab
Remote Protocol: RTSP
Remote Method: RTP/Unicast
Remote host name: <your camera ip address here>
Remote Host port: 7070
Remote Host Path: live.sdp
Remote Image Colours: 24 bit colour
Capture Width: 352
Capture height: 288
Preserve aspect ration: ticked
Orientation: your choice

The image quality is very good, and for an inexpensive camera I am very pleased.

Hope this helps others

Jerji.

I know that this thread is somewhat aged, but I have been working with a ACM-5611. When I first started I noticed that my load was increased considerably from a normal .2-.7 for 7 cameras to a 1.5-3 with the 5611 running too. I started looking at what I could tweek, I ran into a publication
from ACTi that explained GOP, after reading a bit I realized that the GOP
reduced bandwidth consumption but the trade off was that ZM had to work
harder to decode the data. So I selected a GOP of 1, which really causes
the camera to send constant rate and I frames only so it is really running
MJPEG rather than MPEG4. As soon as a I selected a GOP of 1 my load
dropped down to where it was prior to adding the ACTi. Of course if you
have BW issues you may have to go back to using GOP to obtain lower BW.
I am running these cameras on a island network, so there is nothing else
they compete with. So BW is not a issue as the cameras talk to gigabit switches which talk to a gigabit NIC, the PC appears to keep up with it.
In general, the past few days I have had a chance to deal with 4 types of ACTi cameras, the ACM-3601, ACM-4201, ACM-5000 and the ACM-5611.
Now that I have a better understanding of them, I am so far impressed with all of them.

It appears that if they use the dame firmware they will work, I found that
several of these cameras while different in appearance and perhaps sensors
have the same base software and will work.
