Kudos to ZM and the Creators and Contributors

Post by snake61 »

2 years ago I came across ZM. I downloaded an ISO or two in different flavors and got it up and running, but because of my level of familiarity with Linux, or lack thereof, I got frustrated and put it down. About a month ago, I decidied to have a go at it again. I used an LiveCD from PCLOS. Install was flawless. I ran into problems networking working because my office is over my garage 75 feet away and I was trying to connect wirelessly to the DSL Modem/Router in the house. That didn't happen because of bridging issues with routers and the 2Wire DSL modem. So I ran a hardwire to the garage. My ZM took me a little time to tweak the sensitivity on the cameras to reduce the amount of recordings I was getting, but it is perfect now. (I found that if you have a really wide view like my 300' driveway, it is best to break it up into many zones-5 in this case). I also asked how to increase or use my entire HD just for ZM and was able to do that. Last night I was screwing around with my iPhone and noticed in a ap (Cam Viewer) I bought a month ago, and low and behold, it actually had ZoneMinder settings on it. I was shocked. But I went into the ap, set up my cameras and man, it is sweet. So now, I have my system set up, can access from anywhere when I'm on the road, and now can access it on my iPhone. Over the course of the last 2 years I have worked with ACTi, and they are just as good, only thing is, they are dependent on Windows OS, which we all know is contrary. Thanks guys for all the help. A special thanks to Cordel for tolerating me and my stupid questions; to Coke who got me up and running 2 years ago when frustration levels were high; and to Curtis, and all the others who provide a tremendous amount of service to this project. I only wish I knew Linux like you guys. Thanks again to all. Job well done!!!!javascript:emoticon(':D')
Thanks for all the Help.

Perfect! I have one request though; please finalize your previous posts with your solutions. Many times I am unsure if I even understand the question fully so posting your solutions may answer countless questions and thus contribute to the ZM project!
