Hi,

You will need to post more details, like type of camera in your system (webcam, ipcam, etc).

I am using an avermedia card nv3000 with regular security cameras connected, which have worked before on this system. However it will not work because I have to be able to point to the /dev/video file, which does not exist. I don't see how knowing the above info is going to help, but there it is. I am sure that at some point in the installation process, this file is supposed to be created but was not, so the big question is, how do I create it?

When I run xawtv I get the following

This is xawtv-3.95.dfsg.1, running on Linux/x86_64 (2.6.31-20-generic)
