Zoneminder 1.22.3 in Ubuntu Linux 8.04 Hardy Herron Problem

I rebuilt an old PIII 866 Dual Processor Abit VP6 Mobo with 1GB RAM, 80GB HDD and 1TB Mirrored SATA RAID first as a dedicated web testing and file server--I loaded Apache 5.1. I then decided to have this server pull (triple?) duty by loading in zoneminder and putting two four channel CCV Cards into the last two slots.
To make a long story short, I have zoneminder loaded, I have a test camera hooked up, and the function and source column titles turn to orange when configured properly; but I still have no video coming through. I know the cameras work, because I hooked them straight into a monitor and I get video, but when hooked into the cards I get nothing except a blank spot where the video should be.
Can anyone out there be of assistance? Thanks!
No Video Update

Digging back into the fray today, I noticed that I'm finally getting 20-40 FPS in my video feed from the camera, but STILL NO VIDEO in the monitor. All I have is an "X" in the upper left hand corner next to the camera text. Still, the browser is refreshing every few seconds like it's receiving video...but it's not showing up.
The function and sources columns both show orange while in monitor mode, then turn to green when I go into "modetect" or "morecord" modes, but again, still no video.

Sounds like you cgi-bin path is setup wrong fro zm. Or your useing a browser besides firefox with out the Cambozola plug-in installed.
Or if you have zm in mpeg mode switch it back to mjpeg mode.
Also to verefy zm is indeed capturing it will log capturing at 5fps monitor id etc.. in syslog I believe.
Thank You For Responding

Thank you for your response and assistance. Currently, my zoneminder streaming server path is: /usr/share/zoneminder/cgi-bin/nph-zms; I have been attempting to load in Cambozola since I viewed your response; thus far those attempts have failed (I'm an admitted "Newbie" to both Linux and Zoneminder.)
I've been researching and testing, testing and researching, yadda, yadda, yadda...and I've about ripped all of the hair off my scalp in the process.

Zoneminder is a lot to handle if you don't have a firm grasp on how the components of a lamp stack work. packages ease the burden a lot what distro are you useing?
What Distro I'm Using
