hicvision sucks

hicvision sucks

so I found a hicvision 8 channel card laying around in a pile of junk, thought "awesome, I'll build a new DVR for my other store that doesn't have one." bought all my stuff 4 BCN cameras MB cpu etc. threw it in my rack thinking it it couldn't be any more difficult than previous zoneminder experiences (I guess I've gotten lucky and never had to install drivers or do HW configuring of any kind) I tried the ZM live cd I tried CentOS I tried fedora and tried installing Hicvision's horrible driver on all of them. and none of them can find the card. xawtv -hwscan didn't show anything the hicvision SDK was useless I know it works because it works fine in windows with some crappy software. (which was programmed by someone that thinks pointer operations are the best thing since sliced bread.) if you don't know what that means it means its a broke ass program. So I'm going to throw this hicvision crap in the garbage (their tech support sucks also)

So I need a cost effective card with preferably 8 channels that I'm not going to have to fiddle with. any suggestions?
