FTP jpg files?

Im using about 25-30 Axis camera's with 3 zoneminder servers. Im using motion detection on all the camera's and unfortunately its taxing out the processor on all these machines.
all the camera's are Axis camera's. Each one has the ability to do there own motion detection and upload to an FTP server.
I was wondering if Zoneminder can be used to read these files but not used to process all the motion detection. This would allow me to fit a few more camera's in without having to add another server.
Or if there is another solution?
Just seem it would be better to use the processing power of all the camera's for the motion detection. User Zone minder for the viewing and cleanup of the data?
