Upload to Picasa Web Albums

With Google's online storage being quite reasonably priced, I'd love to be able to upload events to picasa web albums once they finish recording (I'm using modect).

This would provide cheap online backups ($20USD / year for 80GB).
I can imaging it would be a fair bit of work, as old images / albums would need to be purged occasionally as well.

I'm not sure how feasible this would be simply due to the number of images etc, and not sure if it violates the picasa terms of service, but would be very interested if anyone wanted to give it a go.

Would others find this useful?

there is a Google Picasa API available

Hi Grimsy,

Interesting thought! Abstracting from this would be the ability to "use an external storage provider".

I know that digiKam can communicatie to Google picasa; looked it ip and, voila, there is a Google picasa Web Albums API.

I'm sure we could create a batch job that spools events to picasa and purges picasa when it's there... Anyone interested?
