[SOLVED] OK, So It's Running on Fedora13...

Dangit! Everything looks good even! It's recording events like it should when set to "Modect" (on Ubuntu it simply stopped recording events for some strange reason). It's even going into "Alarm" state...but it's not playing my wav file!

I had this problem under Ubuntu once and I believe it was resolved by adding www-data to the audio group or something like that. I can't seem to do that it Fedora and I see nothing in the documentation that indicates I need to do that. Is there something I'm missing? TIA

Let's stay off that other thread.
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I was hoping it was that easy as I checked that last night during troubleshooting. Still no joy...<sigh>
Are you pointing to the directory defined in DIR_SOUNDS under options->paths->DIR_SOUNDS. The ? after each discription can give you clues as to values and location. I'm only guessing but Dir_Sounds, value sounds will be in /var (don't currently have a machine to check).

I too am not at my machine, but I'll confirm tonight (thanks). If memory serves, the DIR_SOUNDS directory is /usr/share/zoneminder/www/sounds and the option is set to sounds (which is relative to the "root" directory of /usr/share/zoneminder/www). I double check though. Thanks again.

OK, now ain't that a pisser. I double checked my settings under the options menu and everything looked as it should, right? BUT!!!....

When I went in to double check the settings in zm.conf, the variables were not set! WTF???? I "resaved" the file to no avail. So I manually set the variables in the file directly, restarted ZM and were working. Thanks for steering me to dig a bit more deeply. Now to just find out why the file isn't getting written when a change is made...LOL!

I'm not sure why ubuntu is having the problems it's having. I've tried to duplicate the usb issues on these Fedora boxes and can't but the forums are littered with 10.04 posts. There is one issue though and that's exporting video. On two of three I have no problem at all but that one %##@#@@!@#$^ box has drove me nuts; I'm about to reload and would like to give Fedora 13 a try. Did you have to alter anything in the walk through other then the lower case "rpm"? I agree, this is unbelievably simple to do and rock solid!
