Hi folks- Im trying to set up zm on my first ever Linux machine. So far I have installed the OS using the guide at http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.ph ... erver_32-p. I've gotten to the part where you ping www.nytimes.com. I can see a 12 digit (ip?) address when I do that, but I'm not sure how to get from that to the gateway, mask, fixed ip, etc that the guide mentions. Then in the next step, I think I have to make changes using something called the nano editor but I don't know how. The guide assumes just a little more experience than I have (so far. Maybe it will get harder.)

Any help would be much appreciated. If there is a more appropriate place to post this question, please let me know.
