Abandonware

Hi,

Is it safe to assume that ZoneMinder is now classified as 'Abandonware' and no longer maintained or under active development?

Reason I ask is that it has been over a year since the last release and it does not seem as if this forum is maintained (no spam cleanup).

Would ZoneMinder still be a viable option or should one look elsewhere?

The dev is just busy. If you pm him about spam and things he comes and clears it up. Also go look at the cvn there's changes every few weeks.

I've been beginning to wonder too. I mean, they certainly don't owe us anything but is development over? Does anyone think there will be a 1.25 or a 2.0?

There may not have been a release, but there has definitely been a lot of development since the release of 1.24.2.

You can see the latest development snapshots by checking out the subversion copy. In gnu/linux, install subversion and run this and you will get a new zm directory of the latest code:

Code: Select all

svn co http://svn.zoneminder.com/svn/zm/trunk zm
See also:
http://svn.zoneminder.com/

I count 278 revisions since 1.24.2 was release. I very much appreciate what the developers of zoneminder have done. I do wish they would "release early and release often" though. :) Oh, and use git! ;)
