Zoneminder and wireless ip cameras

Post by ddalton »

I am using all Airlink 101 500 cameras and eventually all my cameras turn red and never turn back green, I can log into them and they are up, the work for awhile but eventually if there is latency in their response they turn red and never turn back green.

How do I solve this problem?

Regards,
Doug

First question is zoneminder running as virtual machine ?

Also when the cameras are not working try going directly to there jpeg url see if that works. Then try it on the zm machine useing the command wget

It looks like wget connects but fails to get an image, so a reboot it required for the airlink... it appears the software works on the front end but hangs on the image grab, does someone have a suggestion for a better airlink capture method for the 500 and 500w?

post the path your currently using.

Also another possiable problem is your switch. With ipcams the home switches don't cut it.

You could try running a pingtest for a few hours until one drops, then look at the results.

If there's any missing packets between your camera being green and your camera going red, I'm afraid link is your #1 suspect.

You can also rule out wireless problems by plugging the camera into some ethernet to test it, see if it still goes red.

Also ping -f will tell you if your switch can take the traffic will it will ping flood.

IT prints a "." for ever sent packet
and a backspace for every revived ones.

If packets faill you will get a bunch of ....................... in the terminal.

also control-C quits

I have the same camera and experience the same problems.

Camera (500w) is on WiFi, with the latest Firmware update 1.1.0-34 (http://www.airlink101.com/support/index ... les&id=122)
My Zoneminder machine (running 1.24.2 on Ubuntu 10.04 server) is also using WiFi. I can stream images live to the box fine using a web browser, but it seems that zoneminder has issues and trips up once in a while.
Wifi is set to WPA2-PSK.

I tried resetting the camera's password and ports back to default to see if that will help, but sadly to no avail.
