Edimax IC-1520DP Camera

Post by Darin »

I finally got this Camera to work from the following blog post

http://www.seanfurukawa.com/?p=7

There is a image that shows what you put in the "Source" tab, but essentially the most important part is this

* Remote Host Name: admin:1234@192.168.x.x
* Remote Host Path: /jpg/image.jpg

Here's a picture

The Camera does have PTZ but I don't know if that will work I need to do some learnin' so at the moment it's just focused on my front yard, I don't have a big front yard so it pretty much covers the important areas, at the moment I adjust the cam from a windoze laptop to get the picture I want. So you may have to set it up from windows then go back to Ubuntu 10.04 Zoneminder in my case.

Motion detection works well, now that I know how good Zoneminder is, I want to buy a better cam lol, but the edimax will still get used in some capacity and it will do for now.

I have written more here, about my experience setting zoneminder up and the Edimax

http://www.thegoss.com.au/content/zonem ... t-works-me

I had searched this site extensively but could never find how to set up the Edimax, hopefully it will help someone else.

First post so I apologise if it's in the wrong place

Cheers

I think the edimax is fine for it's price, but as I said above I wouldn't mind getting a fully compatible with zoneminder camera, oh and night vision would be nice, but it does what I want for now and the edimax is quite cheap.

If I get a better camera I will just use the edimax somewhere else as it is now eg. as a fixed cam, my first post pretty much summed it up ;o)
