Debian 5 (Lenny), Airlink 101 AICN500W SkyIPCam500W, Zoneminder 1.24, HP Pavilion zv5235us (2.8Ghz/1.5Gb).
This is intended as a home security system doubling as MythTV DVR. Everything is functional, just need to fine-tune camera motion senstivity and set up schedules for monitoring.
For x10, what I'd like to have happen is when motion is detected at night, I'd like a ceiling light in the area to come on and I'd like to have an alarm go off. I don't want an obnoxious air-horn type alarm. I just want something that beeps a couple of times and has a long pause, enough to wake me in the bedroom, but still allow me to listen for intruders while clearing the house.
I think I can find an appropriate light switch. I'm not having much luck on an alarm and would like to know what others have done or would suggest.
Also, what about overriding? If I have it running from midnight to 6am, but for some reason have to go down to the kitchen, I would want to hit some kind of override. I can't seem to find a 10-key keypad for x10, which I think would be great if I could just enter a code to arm/disarm.
Finally, this machine has no serial port. I have a serial to usb adapter. Should I expect problems with that?
Thanks a lot!
