I may be being stupid or blind here but struggling to answer this question looking through docs/wiki.

Can you back up the video recorded by ZoneMinder? Preferably to FTP or SMB (it would be going to a remote windows box to back up..).

One way would be to setup /install samba on the ZM box. Share the Events folder. Where all the images from each event is stored.
On your windows box use a backup utility that you can setup to sync the events folder to your windows folder.
I use SyncBack.

rsync's the standard (yes, windows versions are available) but remember you'll need to backup the mysql database too. (mysqldump somewhere and back that up too)
