Folks,
I have just finished a camera system, it is using ACTi cameras, and all of the video streams are RTSP. I noticed very high load rates compared to other systems I am using. I have done some things to drop the load greatly, indeed when I now run a ACTi camera on my home system load increases
by a reasonable amount. The system I finished shows a load of 2 - 2.7 on
the ZM console, I just ran top on that machine and see that the load shown
is at least half of what is shown on ZM. I did a refresh on the screen to make
sure I had fresh data, and still a big delta, here is the info off of the two machines
My test system
Load: 0.42 / Disk: 12%
load average: 0.37, 0.41, 0.43
As you can see by the time I get a sample from TOP, it has even dropped
a bit
New system
Load: 2.12 / Disk: 3%
load average: 0.99, 1.11, 0.93
Note the delta, I have a tendency to trust TOP more than the display on
the ZM screen unless there is a issue with TOP.
Does anyone else see this, the interesting thing is both systems are running Russ' ZMLArch 1.24.2.1.
I was worried about loading, but once I look at TOP I believe that things
are running better than I thought. The first system has 8 cameras on it,
the second has only 5 on it at this time. The big difference is that the 5
cam system is all RTSP, the other system is jpeg except for the last cam
which is a ACTi ACM-5611.
If you have any ideas I am all ears.
Oh yes, the system that indicates high load on ZM sure does not act
like it either, I have run systems with the load way up there, they get
sluggish and show bad response, this one is still flying fast.
