Disk Reuse

Post by adamjseed »

Hello,

Can some one point me in the right direction. I am sure it will be in the documentation somewhere but despite my best efforts I have been unable to solve this one.

I am running zone minder on Ubuntu. I have a separate CCTV hardrive (500gb). I record continuously as I have not had much luck with the motion detection as I'm using it for exterior monitoring and have a lot of trees in view. This inevitably uses alot of space. So my question is:

Is there anyway to get zone minder to record onto the disk and when it is full delete the oldest images and replace them with the current ones. I.E. having a rolling month worth of video?

Thanks in advance

Of course, please look into the PurgeWhenFull filter, you need to set it to run in the background.
Depending on the rate your hard drive fills up, it might be needed to tweak the default settings a little. I use 88 percent disk percentage and delete 5 events every time, but if your hard drive becomes full with those settings, lowering the percent and increasing the number from 5 to something like 8 might be needed.
