I got my hands on an Axis 211A camera that's working fine with ZM through the camera's HTTP interface.
As I play more with this camera it seems like it has a huge amount of functionality (like motion detection) that is ignored by ZM since ZM will do all this on it's own using the video stream.
Can ZM make better use of the features in this smart camera? Or are users better off buying a cheaper camera?
Thanks
Are "smart cameras" a waste with ZM?

I think if you're creative, you can use some of the advanced features of some of the nicer cameras. For example, many cameras that have their own motion detection built in can normally be configured to set a digital output. If you were to connect that digital output to an X10 module, you could use it to relay the event to ZM, without having to use ZM's motion detection.
Though, as most users will likely only have a handfull of cameras, there wouldn't likely be a whole lot to gain by doing something like this - plus you would miss out on the all important zones that ZM offers

There is a article in the wiki on how to use the motion detection on the axis cameras.
