Hello everybody.

I'm using ZM 1.22.3 with an standard 4-port bt878 card.

The server is an Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.40GHz with 512Mb Ram.

Now i've bought a new Cam with an resulution of 582x500 pixel.

But i cant set ZM to this Resulution. Only 320x240 will work.

I have an other cam with 320x240 connected on input 0.

Is'nt it possible to set different resulutions to the cams?

With xawtv everthing woks fine...

Here are my shared memory parameters
cat /proc/sys/kernel/shmall
134217728

cat /proc/sys/kernel/shmmax
134217728

can somebody help?

An restart of the serve doesn't help...

You have a shared memory issue almoxt certain. Bump up the values until the desired resolution works. Start with 50% increase.

Thanks for the answer.

I've set the shared memory to 268435456.

Now i can set the resolution to 640 x 480, or 704 x 576 pixel.

After changing the resolution i have to restart zm.

But the native resolution of the camera 582x500 will not work :( .

However now i have a higher resultion as 352 x 288 Pixel.

Thorsten

I kept playing with the resolution until I found one that worked. I have one camera that initially was set at 640X480. The view and specs though were of a "wide screen" prospective and I was able to get the camera to stream video at: 720X480. I am utilizing an 8 chip / 8 port 878A card with it, ZM Version 1.23.3 with PC OS Linux 2008. The ZM box is a 3.0Ghz with 1.5Gb of memory / 250Gb SATA drive.

Big difference between the 640X480 view and 720X480 view. The newest analogue camera also has a wider lens on it. The only piece that I found difficult was adjustment of the camera. It is a Speco brand outdoor dome camera. Many adjustments on the camera for different lighting. It also had IR's on it which I have disabled. Most likely will update second camera with same brand as I like the wide screen view. The lens specs are: 2.8-11mm F1.4 varifocal auto iris lens. It is connected via a CAT5E balun running about 100 feet (33 M) from the home facing the home.

When using a capture card the resolutions available are determined by the card not the camera. The card will convert the input to any output that's it's been hard wired to do, sometimes discovering this can be challenging. That's why I always recommend 320*240 to get it working then play around with ratio, resolution, and any other settings the card supports.
