REMOTE RECORDING

Post by mosamba »

I´m new to ZM and wish to install it at home using the cheapest possible dedicated ITX machine and would like to know it there is any way of recording EXCLUSIVELLY on a remote server (just events). That is, no recording of events at all on my local machine. Thanks.

remote recording

one way is to setup zm on the local with the cams as monitors

then on remote server/recorder install zm and stream the monitors from the first/local box

the image quality will be what you set in images streaming quality on the local zm

You can also use a remote mysql database and mount a remote drive locally. That would allow the local machine to do the work but everything is immediately stored on the remote.

Ensure link is reliable and fat enough to cope.

Remote msql

@Flash_

flash have you done this with good results ?
although i've heard ppl say zoneminder is too buggy to
use in production i have done about 5 for friends and
none of them have any problems with the exception of
crashed msql databases.

what would be a reliable remote link for msql ?

i've got a few VNPs going but not sure they would be good enough
to make msql happy

oh, i wanted to add every crash of the mysql database was
the direct result of a bad battery in the UPS hooked to the ZM machine
where there was a power loss and the battery was completely dead.
