CPU load increase massively when snow cover outdoor areas?

I have noticed a dramatic increase of CPU temperature (15 degrees C more) after snow covers the outdoor area my zoneminder monitors. i assume the temperature increase is due to much higher cpu load.
is it probable that snowy areas make zoneminder work much harder? perhaps due to less colour variations in the images?
or can the colors in the camera image not affect the cpu load?
any suggestions most welcome!
