[SOLVED] Slow interface?

Argh...helps to select "High" bandwidth profile...LOL

I'm just doing a fresh install of 1.24.2 on Ubuntu 10.04 server. Everything is working well, but there is terrible lag in the interface when I try to view a monitor.
For example, if I click the monitor name in the main console window, the new window pops up and I immediately see the image. But it takes about 5-10 seconds for the FPS display, the events, an the "force alarm" buttons to show up.
Is this just part of the new DVR style interface? I was on 1.23 before so I know some things are bound to be different, but this doesn't seem right. System load is below 0.3, so I don't think it's literally a CPU problem.
