Mixed up capture images

Post by furrest »

Hello,

I am using a grandtec 4port (x-guard) capture card in my system. When only one monitor is created, no problems. However when I add another monitor, i get images that are a mixture of the feeds on the different ports. I suspect its due to some lame multiplexing on the card.

Im sure my problem is not with zoneminder, but am hoping someone may have an idea.

Thanks

Forrest

Hi Forrest,

I've not heard of this problem before but it does sound like the channel switching is not completing properly. One thing you can try, though it might not help, is setting the Max FPS of each monitor to a fairly low value, say 2FPS as an experiment.

Let me know if this makes any difference.

Cheers,

Phil,

Thanks Philip,

Nope, still gets messed up, it's just sort of messed up at a slower pace if that makes any sense. Right now I don't have any cameras so I've just been using composite out from my DVD player and laptop. I doubt that has anything to do with the problem but I am often wrong.

BTW everything else working perfectly thanks to the stuff I read in here!

Resolved,

Thought I'd post the results of what I found out for posterity. It seems that the grand-tec x guard capture cards have extra multiplexers (2) on the board aside from the built in multiplexer on the BT878. They allow up to 16 inputs on one board, although the frame rate with 16 cams & 1 bt878...yuck

The latest bttv module code is x-guard aware (reading the source code is where I found the above info, hooray open source!) and once I compiled & installed it, the mixed up images were resolved.
